Finding a Certified Person for Genealogical Research

BCG certifies individuals in one research category and one teaching category, described below. These categories relate to particular types of genealogical projects, such as:

  • help with research problems;
  • completing hereditary-society applications;
  • compiling extensive family histories;
  • conducting seminars for genealogical societies.

To identify certified persons to help with genealogical needs, prospective clients should consider individuals whose:

  • certification category is closest to the type of work they desire;
  • location is near records the client wants searched; and
  • special interests relate to the client’s goals.
